The latest movie from the acclaimed director of the Mirror BoyObi Emelonye is to be released in London in about a week’s time. The movie – which has its concept and inspiration driven from the series of tragedies that rocked the nation’s aviation sector in 2006 – has been dedicated to the memory of all who lost their lives in the two ill-fated crashes that involved Allied Air and Dana Air, penultimate Sunday, in Accra and Lagos.  (more…)

House star, Hugh Laurie, looks set to make what could be the biggest step in his acting career. After eight seasons of playing the annoying, sarcastic, brilliant and loveable Gregory House in the hit TV Show, House, Hugh Laurie is in talks to play the villain in MGM’s remake of RoboCop. The news was first broken by Variety, although MGM have refused to comment on it.  (more…)

With the debate on who should direct the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, now well and truly behind us, we can all look forward to actual movie news, and the latest coming from movie sites all over is that Philip Seymour Hoffman has been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, the new Gamemaker at the Capitol after Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) was creatively executed at the end of The Hunger Games. In the books, Heavensbee plays a more critical role than Crane did so its probably a good either to give it to such a great talent.

November cannot come early enough for most of us. For some its because the final twilight movie is finally coming, for others its because the twilight saga is finally coming to an end. Be that as it may, summit entertainment, the guys behind the movie, have decided to start releasing teasers of the movie, including this latest image of what looks to be a family portrait of the latest member of the Cullens.  (more…)

Marvel Studios has announced that production has begun on Tony Stark’s latest adventure, Iron Man 3, by releasing the first official image from the highly anticipated sequel, showing Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, facing an assortment of different Iron Man suits. There was already a leaked set photo (below) showing that the movie will include the Iron Patriot - the red, white and blue armour. I’ve heard revealing who may be wearing it could be a potential spoiler, so I’ll only put it at the end of the post, read at your own discretion.  (more…)

The award winning Nollywood phenomenon that is Phone Swap doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Filmmakers, Golden Effect Pictures, already brought the movie back to the big screen for special May day showings from April, 27 – May, 3. Well, it looks like that was a success because they’re at it again, this time using the upcoming Democracy Day as an excuse. That’s right, Phone Swap is going to be showing this coming public holiday, but with a new twist – it won’t be at any cinemas near you.  (more…)

That’s right, Agent Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) is back, or is coming back. Neeson recently confirmed to EW that there is a sequel for Taken, simply titled Taken 2, and it will pick off a year after the events of the first one, and Neeson further claimed its “a very clever sequel with the usual thrills and spills, but the ante is upped quite a bit in this one.”  (more…)
