Morning Talk: More Superheroes Are Coming

The immensely entertaining Marvel’s the Avengers has not only sent scores of fans home with the biggest smiles on their faces for a very, very long time, it also seems to have revitalised our yearning for superhero movies. We don’t have to look far to satisfy this craving though, what with Sony’s the Amazing Spider-Man and Warner Bros’ the Dark Knight Rises just around the corner. The unfortunate move to postpone the release date of G.I. Joe: Retaliation by a little under 9 months is a bit disappointing, but at least now Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel will have some company when it hits theatres in 2013. 

Morning Talk: The Curse of The Avengers & The Last Action Movie

The Avengers… what more can be said about it? The greatest movie in modern times pretty much sums it up. It has single handedly smashed almost every movie record in history. At over $1 billion worldwide, the film is already Disney’s highest-grossing release of all time. But where does that leave other “summer” movies? Eating its dust, that’s where. Since I saw the Avengers, I’ve gone on to see Battleship, Project X and Dark Shadows. And suffice to say, none has managed to impress me, I just kept thinking, ‘why am I not watching the Avengers again?’, because I have to write reviews that’s why! I’m sure if I had seen Battleship before the Avengers I would have enjoyed it and not dozed off half the time, but alas… 

Morning Talk – It Is Written by Kelechukwu O. Okafor – Book Review

Not a movie, granted, but as a Christian, book lover and writer, I couldn’t resist. A good friend of mine recently wrote a book – It Is Written – a very powerful book for anyone who wants to know more about God and how He affects our everyday life. With Marvel’s The Avengers receiving all the praise and attention, its easy to forget that there are a number of potential summer blockbusters involving other much loved heroes and hero team-ups, coming out at around the same time. We have movies like The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises and the movie with the least publicity so far… G.I. Joe: Retaliation. 

Morning Talk: Sin City 2 to Finally Start Shooting

The first Sin City from Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez (and Quentin Tarantino) starring Jessica Alba, Devon Aoki, Alexis Bledel, Poweres Boothe, Rosario Dawson and Bruce Willis was such a breath of fresh air. There was just something about it that I couldn’t get enough of, thats why it was so frustrating when it seemed like rumours of a sequel were just that, rumours. But now, seven years later, a press release by the Weinstein Company has confirmed that a Sin City sequel is finally going to begin production. 

Morning Talk: Superman to be “Edgy” Like ‘The Dark Knight’

When you take a look at Man of Steel director Zack Snyder‘s filmography, then this news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. He’s been responsible for movies like 300, Sucker Punch, Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead, so I guess it was only a matter of time before it was revealed that his latest project, Man of Steel, will be a bit darker and edgier than previous Superman instalments, and his ability to deliver something “edgy” was probably part of the reason why Warner Bros. and producer Christopher Nolan hired him in the first place.

Morning Talk: So Much Noise About the Hunger Games Sequels

I’ve tried my best to ignore everything about the Hunger Games, I haven’t even seen the trailers, and I have no idea what the movie is about, and I plan on keeping it that way. This is simply because it is looking more and more likely everyday that it won’t be released here. Sad I know, but I’ve heard so many good things about the movie  that I’ve decided not to punish myself further by looking into what I’m missing out on. But I’ve decided that I can talk about one thing – the sequels to the movie.

Its sunday, Easter Sunday at that, and so there’s really not much going on, movie news wise, this is the first slow news day I’m experiencing and I’m not sure how to handle it. I have no idea what I’m going to talk about today, so I’m just going to ramble a bit. How about we go through all that has happened this past week and appreciate what April has brought? Cool? Cool, cool, cool! Ok then, let’s go through all the news items from April 1 till date and reminisce. 

Morning Talk: The Teenage Exorcism – In Real Life!!!

Happy Easter,

Its a religious holiday, and what better thing to wake up to than an exorcism, or better yet, a family of exorcist :D. Evangelist Bob Larson is what some people (himself and his family mostly) call a pro, he’s been at this game since the 1980’s and he claims he’s performed over 15,000 exorcisms. Now he’s involved his three lovely daughters in the gig. Brynne, Tess and Savannah are trying to rid the world of demons and save people from satan’s influence, at the same time as living a normal teenage life, and doing normal girly things, such as going horseback riding, Karate and beauty pageants.
