The immensely entertaining Marvel’s the Avengers has not only sent scores of fans home with the biggest smiles on their faces for a very, very long time, it also seems to have revitalised our yearning for superhero movies. We don’t have to look far to satisfy this craving though, what with Sony’s the Amazing Spider-Man and Warner Bros’ the Dark Knight Rises just around the corner. The unfortunate move to postpone the release date of G.I. Joe: Retaliation by a little under 9 months is a bit disappointing, but at least now Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel will have some company when it hits theatres in 2013.  (more…)

Now that The Avengers is in theaters and raking in tons of cash, some of the artists who worked on various concept designs for the movie have started posting their work on their respective websites. Here, artist Justin Sweet shows us a variety of different looks for the Chitauri – The Alien Army Loki used to try and destroy the World (Mostly New York, but still).  (more…)

The Avengers… what more can be said about it? The greatest movie in modern times pretty much sums it up. It has single handedly smashed almost every movie record in history. At over $1 billion worldwide, the film is already Disney’s highest-grossing release of all time. But where does that leave other “summer” movies? Eating its dust, that’s where. Since I saw the Avengers, I’ve gone on to see Battleship, Project X and Dark Shadows. And suffice to say, none has managed to impress me, I just kept thinking, ‘why am I not watching the Avengers again?’, because I have to write reviews that’s why! I’m sure if I had seen Battleship before the Avengers I would have enjoyed it and not dozed off half the time, but alas…  (more…)

Now that we’ve seen Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers, what next you ask… well Marvel have the answer. In order to help you figure out what happened in each movie in relation to the others, the official Marvel Cinematic Universe Timeline has been unveiled, which shows all that happened leading up to the Avengers, including which scenes from each of the solo movies actually happened at the same time. Hope this helps you understand the logic behind the Avengers even more.  (more…)

Now that the Avengers has quickly become the all time highest grossing film ever made (ever), Marvel has taken time out to shoot this video to thank the fans who turned out in their millions to support what could have been the biggest risk any movie has ever made. So if you’re one of said fans, consider yourself thanked, and prepare for round 2 😀  (more…)

For those of you who don’t follow Samuel L. Jackson – dude that played Nick Fury in Marvel’s The Avengers – then you probably didn’t see his tweet about the guy that really puts on the Iron Man suit. After watching either of the Iron Man movies or the Avengers, its easy to assume that Robert Downey Jr. is the one wearing the Iron Man suit in all its glory, but this isn’t so. (more…)

MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS

Who’s in it:

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson.

Who made it:

Josh Whedon  – Director

Kevin Feige – Producer

What’s it about:

Marvel Studios delivers the ultimate comic-book film, which ties together such characters as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) for a big-screen franchise team-up like no other. Taking center stage this time is Nick Fury (played once again by the note-perfect Samuel L. Jackson), leader of the peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury, along with former Russian spy Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), recruits a super team to combat Thor’s ever-deceptive brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after he brainwashes ace archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) while stealing a cosmic cube from an underground base. Thus the heroes must learn to work together alongside outlaw scientist Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), who can track down the artifact’s gamma signals when he’s not hulking out into a giant green monster.

9.5/10 – Action, Suspense, Comedy… Assemble!!!

Its here, its here, its finally here, Marvel’s most highly anticipated movie is finally coming Nigeria, and, would you believe it, its coming out a day earlier than the Worldwide release – May 4. Fab Magazine is reporting that Ozone Cinemas in partnership with Fanta, Blue Pictures, Walt Disney and Crimson Media is bringing the Avengers to their screens on Thursday, May 3, during a special first-of-its-kind exclusive costume premiere. This is the first time such an event is holding in West Africa, but that’s not important, the point is THE AVENGERS ARE ASSEMBLING IN LAGOS. (more…)

I’m not sure what else can be milked out of the Avengers without spoiling it for those of us who haven’t seen it yet (anyone outside the UK that is), but that hasn’t stopped the Marvel marketing team from trying. A new featurette featuring villainous Loki has been released and you can watch it right here.  (more…)
